JOIN THE MOVEMENT IN SUPPORT OF ELDERS!
The 15th of June has been designated as “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day” by the United Nations, and it is observed all over the world. Through its extensive research reports, HelpAge India has established itself as a leader in the field of senior advocacy over the course of its history.
Our topic for this year is “Bridge the Gap,” and within this framework, we are investigating the disparities that exist for seniors in the areas of income and employment, health and wellbeing, elder abuse and crime, and social and digital inclusion.
Our social media campaign is centred on one of the most significant challenges that elderly people face, which is a lack of social inclusion, and how families play an important part in bridging this gap.

“HelpAge’s vision for the future is a society in which people of retirement age have the right to live an engaged, healthy, and dignified life. These rights include the elders’ right to Universal Pension, quality Healthcare, action against Elder Abuse, and many more on a national, state, and societal level with the Central and State governments. It also works with a variety of organisations to advocate for these rights. It promotes policies that are friendly to older people and the execution of those policies.
Direct interventions in the areas of healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), age care (helplines, senior citizen care homes and daycare centres, physiotherapy), livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), disaster response (e.g. covid19 relief response), and advocacy and awareness on rights and policies relating to elders are the primary focuses of the organization’s programmes.
